Hair mesotherapy in London — what's inside the injection, and does it work?

Mesotherapy is a lower-cost, medium-evidence procedure that fills a real gap between topicals and PRP. Here is how to think about it.

In short

  • Injectable cocktails of vitamins, minerals, peptides delivered to scalp.
  • Evidence weaker than PRP but not absent.
  • London cost: £150–£300 per session; course of 4–8.
  • Best as adjunct to medical therapy, not standalone.

Mesotherapy — technique of injecting bioactive cocktails into the mid-dermis — has been used for hair loss since the 1980s. Formulations vary widely, which is both its strength and its evidence problem: it's not one treatment, it's a family of them.

What's usually in the cocktail

  • Biotin, dexpanthenol, pyridoxine
  • Amino acids (cysteine, methionine)
  • Growth-factor peptides (varies by clinic)
  • Sometimes low-dose finasteride
  • Hyaluronic acid

Evidence — honest read

Multiple small trials show hair density and shaft diameter improvement over 6 months. Larger, blinded trials are scarce. Compared to PRP, effect size smaller but treatment cost lower. Best evidence is for early androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium recovery.

London protocol and cost

Typical course: 4 sessions at 2–4 week intervals, then maintenance every 3 months. Cost £150–£300 per session. Combines well with minoxidil and finasteride.
